Botox
Botox is the injection of small amounts of purified botulism toxin into a muscle. It causes weakness and/or parallysis of the muscle. This affect takes 3-10 days to appear and usually lasts up to 3 months. Botox can be injected into particular muscles of the head and neck region. For example, frown lines between the eye-brows are due to the contraction of a small muscle called the corrugate. Injecting Botox into this muscle will paralyze or weaken this muscle, causing the disappearance or improvement of the frown lines.
